Estream Portable Water Power Generator
What if I don't want to disconnect? What if I don't want to see another person for miles, but do want to keep listening to "Love Yourself" and checking to see if Bieber restored his Instagram account? And also have a way to call for help if I take a slight misstep and fall down dancing to "As Long As You Love Me" again? The Estream is a lightweight turbine system, a sustainable, eco-friendly generator that converts any type of moving water into power for your USB devices.
Water from active rivers and streams, or quiet water that kicks up behind your kayak or hot tub tug boat, spins the Estream turbine, which can then generate 2.5W to 5W of electricity. It takes around 4-1/2 hours to charge the system's 6,500mAh battery with running water. A full battery can pass on its juice to up to 3 smartphones, GoPros, or tablet PCs. Estream makes say the device will even do it twice as fast as a regular outlet.
Estream promotes itself as user-friendly, compact in design and intuitive in function, and ideal for campers, backpackers, kayakers and fishermen. In addition to the turbine charging component and built-in battery, the Estream consists of a cylindrical base and opaque domed housing. The design is modular so that the dome and turbine detach from the base when you need it and its ports to power your devices. You can also put the dome back on and use the Estream as a lantern, both on land and underwater. It has 4 lighting modes. An optional Bluetooth speaker module is also available.
If you're interested in the power of water, you can pledge for an Estream generator on Kickstarter through September 11, 2016.
