I don't know how a real working Invisibility Shield really works, and I don't care. As long as it hides me from solicitors when I lounge in my mama's front yard, my friend Cornelius when I use it to scare the ever-loving shizit out of him, and possibly my father-in-law at the dinner table.

Whether you want an Invisibility Shield for pranks, science experiments, or to legit hide from someone (or something, CCTV cameras and facial recognition software) Invisibility Shield Co. is working to perfect fully functional shields to help you, and everyone else looking to Keyser Soze themselves, achieve your goals. The London-based company has already created 25 fully functional shields, and is running a Kickstarter campaign to make as many more as they need to meet the world's disappearing act demands.

Made of recyclable marine-grade materials, the Invisibility Shield is just 2.3" thick, and the 37.4" x 25.6" full-size version weighs around 9 pounds. Invisibility Shield Co. also offers a smaller Shield for hiding objects that measures 12.2" x 8.3".

To create their sneaky optical illusions, Invisibility Shields use a precision engineered lens array that reroutes most of the light reflected off the subject (you) away from the observers. The light deflects sideways across the face of the shield, and...honestly, from there I don't really understand the explanation of the science / magic behind it. You can head over to the Invisibility Shield's campaign page to read it yourself and see if you're smarter than I am (hint: probably yes.) The Invisibility Shield's Kickstarter run goes through May 14, 2022.
