Tritan crystal. I still don't know what it is, but I've learned it's very valuable - a gem! - to have in a wine glass. I own some of Schott Zwiesel's Tritan crystal red wine glasses and can attest that they are awesome based purely on the facts that: 1) I do not have to wash them by hand; and 2) I've had them for almost 18 months and not one has broken, chipped, or otherwise responded as most glassware does to my touch.

By comparison, I won an 8-piece set of Riedel glasses a couple years ago, and bought the Schott Zwiesels after 3 broke in the first month for no reason. It was like they just saw the faucet turn on and sponge coming towards them, and snapped in half in protest.

But Schott Zwiesel's red wine, plus white wine, sparkling wine, and specialized varietal glasses, are some strong and sturdy stemware. According to the manufacturer's literature, the Tritan crystal responsible for this is a non-lead combination of titanium oxide and zirconium oxide that is scratch-, chip-, stain-, and break-resistant. According to me, the manufacturer's literature is correct.
