TurnPoint Smart Motorcycle Glove
The TurnPoint Glove is a navigation wearable for motorcycle riders. It makes following GPS maps and directions easier (and safer) because you don't have to find a nonexistent windshield, dash, or air vent on your bike that will mount your phone within plain view while you're riding. TurnPoint nests inside a custom motorcycle glove on your left hand, using Bluetooth LE to sync with a map app, and displaying turn-by-turn directions on the top of your hand as you go.
Lab Brothers are developing the TurnPoint so that, "From now on, [you'll] only get lost when you want to." The device itself looks like one of those View-Master reels, a small disc with 18 encircling dots and corresponding mileage numbers. The dots light up with LEDs to notify you of the distance until a turn--from 0 to 4+ miles, in half-mile increments--and, when you approach the turn, which direction to go. The attached TurnPoint glove also has fingertip control so you can interact with the GPS device without taking your hands off the handlebars. For example, touching your thumb to your index finger will indicate the distance to your next turn, and which direction to go.
TurnPoint seeks crowdfunding on Kickstarter through May 6, 2017. At printing, the glove paired with a GPS app available only for iOS, though Lab Brothers says if they exceed their $125,000 funding goal they can start to build an Android version too. Backers will receive the TurnPoint Bluetooth device fitted into the teched-up Left glove, as well as a matching Right glove with no superpowers.
