Yamaha NIKEN 3-Wheel Motorcycle
Is Yamaha's NIKEN a threesome you could go for? The company will formally unveil its 3-wheeled motorcycle on November 6, 2017 at the Yamaha "Pioneers of Emotions" EICMA Press Premiere (you can watch it live at 9pm CET on the Yamaha Facebook page) but until then, here's what we know:
- The NIKEN is a large-displacement Leaning Multi-Wheeler (LMW). The LMW technology is intended to smooth out your ride while traveling along a variety of road surfaces, and stabilize the bike while cornering winding trails.
- It's powered by a liquid-cooled 4-stroke, DOHC, 4-valve engine.
- NIKEN body design pairs 15" front wheels with dual-tube upside-down forks that add an aesthetic complement to its high-performance front-end suspension mechanisms.
That, along with a video that I think compares riding the NIKEN to skiing, but took over a minute of its 2:15 runtime to actually show the bike, so I didn't watch it out of principle, is all we've got from Yamaha so far. If you're interested in additional specs and a price tag, stay tuned later this week for the NIKEN 3-wheeler's official release.
