High quality men's sunglasses ringing in at under $50 aren't too hard to find. Unless they're on top of your head. Then you'll be searching for 20 minutes.

Really though, there are a ton of sunglasses choices out there for under $50 that use decent materials, are well constructed, and look just as cool as the next dude's Ray-Bans or Guccis. They're shady only in the literal service they provide your eyes.

Plus, I've never understood the compulsion to drop $400 - or even $100 - on a pair of sunglasses. All I typically do with mine is scratch them up, drop them, sit on them, or lose them at a strip club poetry reading.

Better to stick with the bargains.

Here are a few of my favorites, all high quality men's sunglasses for under $50.

Note: Sunglasses prices are listed as they were at printing. Prices are subject to change.

Rocknight Ultralight Polarized Aviator Sunglasses $16. My fiancee likes checking herself out in the mirrored lenses on these types of aviators when I wear mine. For that matter, I do too when she wears hers. Rocknight's 1.33-ounce sunglasses provide polarized, 400UV protection. They're also anti-reflective and hydrophobic, and have an anti-slip soft silicone wrapping temple for added comfort.

Night Vision Driving Glasses $28. Sorry, night vision driving glasses won't help you cruise around in the pitch black all stealthy like a Navy SEAL. In fact, these yellow tint lenses aren't meant for predominantly dark conditions at all. They're for reducing glare, enhancing clarity, and evening out contrast when the darkness gets mashed together with the extra bright. Like when some jackhole is coming at you with thousand-lumen low beams. When you're hit with unexpected reflections. When you're driving down flashy streets, or off into the sunset.

Kickfly's Eco Skateboard Wood Sunglasses $40. From plastic to glass to wood, all Kickfly's goods are made from recycled materials. These dandy blue and orange frames come from skateboard decks that have been loved and let go of. Also included with your sunglasses purchase is a Kickfly's laser-etched bamboo carrying case.

Eyekepper Titanium Rimless Reading Sunglasses $19. If there's a reason you can't read that besides the fact the sun's in your eyes, Eyekepper's reader sunglasses might be just the shades (and buzzkill - sorry, Grandpa) you're looking for. They come in 3 different colors / styles, plus 12 different magnifications.

TreeHut Wooden Bamboo Sunglasses $20 to $27. When bamboo is harvested, it regrows fast and with little fanfare, making it an endlessly renewable source. So TreeHut's bamboo-framed sunglasses are chieco-friendly - chic and eco-friendly aviators in multiple frame-lens combo colors and styles.

Official BluBlocker Black Nylon Sunglasses $33. The infomercials were true! These sunglasses are amazing! Celebrate their decades-long success with a pair of BluBlocker originals, the company's classic aviators. The listing here is for the sunglasses in black. If you want to rock it Alan Garner / Hangover-style, click here for the BluBlocker Original Aviators in Demi Tortoise.

Retro Rewind Classic Polarized Wayfarers $11. Retro Rewind calls these sunglasses their "traditional radical frames." They look like something straight out of Teen Wolf (the movie, not the TV show, kids) and even if they're not, the word "radical" definitely is.

Kenneth Cole Reaction Half Rimless Aviator Sunglasses $20 to $23. These sunglasses have a metal frame with a half rim design in an aviator style. As you might have guessed by their name. They also have: plastic, 63mm lenses; a 14mm bridge width; adjustable nose pads, and a 127mm arm length.

Woodies Walnut Wood Sunglasses $30. These wayfarers are nice and all, but I don't think they're called "Woodies" because of the hard-on I'm supposed to get while wearing them. All Woodies shades have frames carved from a former tree. These are a slice of walnut, which Woodies says is half the weight of a similar pair of Ray-Bans. Half of half the cost (and then some) of a pair of Ray-Bans too.

REKS Polarized Unbreakable Seafarer Sunglasses $40. Daredevil inside, Daredevil inside, anyone who wears red-on-red sunglasses has the Daredevil inside. Could be the Deadpool too. Or the Red Gimp. In all seafareness though, the REKS seafarers don't look as comic book-y (or bordello-y) on your face as they do against the black spotlight here. Not quite. And just in case you never regret your decision to purchase red squared eyewear, the sunglasses' scratch-resistant, hydrophobic, polycarbonate lenses sit inside an unbreakable frame.

Polarized Floating Sunglasses $17. Rafting? Fishing? Boating? Bending over a toilet? Don't lose your sunglasses to the laws of density again! BlueWater's floating sunglasses have both a lightweight frame and neoprene foam lining to guarantee they won't sink when you're out for a swim. Additionally, polarized lenses with UV400 filters provide the visual clarity and sun protection you might otherwise presume glasses wearing floaties must lack.
