Interesting how Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead & Win has released in the midst of our farcical 2016 election race, and the general political circus that's set up shop in Washington. I bet authors Jocko Willink and Leif Babin are hoping to impart some of their learned lessons on conducting business and life without looking like a complete fool to some of our current and potential leaders. Orrr maybe they just wrote Extreme Ownership for fumblers like me, who could use the advice too.
Willink and Babin both served in SEAL Task Unit Bruiser, the most highly decorated Special Operations in the Iraq War. They have dozens of combat stories that, maybe surprisingly, maybe not so much, translate into key lessons for any of us navigating important professional and personal battlefields. Through the SEALs' first-hand tales of making decisions and exhibiting leadership under extreme pressure the book gives all existing and would-be leaders insight into and guidance to achieving total domination of their own domains.
While Extreme Ownership stems originally from Willink and Babin's experiences in war, it is also the natural progression of their post-combat gig, Echelon Front. Through Echelon Front the men travel to companies across industries to provide training seminars and talks on the leadership principles owners, executives, and managers need to improve their own performance and build successful teams.
