The Persuasion Deck, "A Tool to Help You Be More Persuasive," sounds to me like a kinder, gentler version of Robert Greene's The 48 Laws of Power. Developed by BestSelf, the deck even states it's here to help you "Get more YESES without manipulation," a sentiment Greene would probably laugh (maniacally) at, before telling you how to gain the trust of your superiors and rise in the ranks at work by adopting the tactics of Grigori Rasputin.
The Persuasion Deck condenses its tips for honing your persuasiveness into 33 cards. Each contains a different trick, followed by a quick and dirty description of how it works. For example: "Smile more (but not too much). How it works: Smiling makes you seem more trustworthy and pleasant to deal with. But don't smile too much, or you may come across as fake. The sweet spot for smiling is every 28 seconds."
Other Persuasion Deck tips include:
- Blink less.
- Use the word "because" when asking for a favor.
- Don't argue, just nod and smile.
- Repeat the end of the last point a person makes when negotiating.
