DoubleFlex Black Total Body Portable Gym

Like me, DoubleFlex Black creators, OYO Fitness, always wondered how NASA astronauts stay fit on the International Space Station. (No word on whether or not they also, like me, wondered how the astronauts vote and poop.) The answer: SpiraFlex resistance technology, a cabled system that functions like free weights, but itself weighs little more than the burger I ate last night.

The Spira-Flex-built DoubleFlex Black is an ultralight, ultra-portable gym that can provide a full-body workout on its own from anywhere--living room, couch, desk chair--as well as pair with your existing workout--spinning, Pilates--to increase the intensity without adding risk of injury, or F'ing up your flow. When you use the DoubleFlex Black, you'll work both sides of your targeted muscle groups in the same movement, creating smooth, consistent resistance throughout your entire range of motion.

Despite weighing only 2 pounds, and folding up small enough to stuff in the front pocket of your hoodie, OYO Fitness says that DoubleFlex Black can produce the same results as free weight training. Using it is also less likely to cause strains and joint stress, or a loss of balance, since the cables move fluidly and don't lend themselves to jerky or momentum-driven starts and stops.

OYO calls the DoubleFlex Black suitable for all fitness levels, as well as those recovering from an injury, or who have disabilities that prevent them from using free weights. The apparatus' resistance is adjustable in increments of 5 pounds up to 25 pounds for use in a variety of upper and lower body moves. Check out the above video, or head over to the DoubleFlex Kickstarter campaign to see some examples. You can pledge for one of your own through February 17, 2017.
