For its price, particularly its Kickstarter price, the LifePrint seems pretty convenient and versatile. Its basic function as a WiFi photo printer for Apple and Android smartphones allows anyone with either a WiFi or 3G and up connection to snap a photo, and then beam it through the LifePrint App to the device itself, which pops out a hard copy at home. Even if home is 10,000 miles away. In about 60 seconds, the printer can receive and output any photo taken from anywhere in the world.

Alternatively, since LifePrint is small enough to hold in one hand, those seeking instant photographic gratification can bring the printer along with them to snapshot-worthy events. It has enough juice to develop about 30 photos on a single charge.

LifePrint's rack of skills further expands with the ability to Follow fellow printer owners and, in turn, print to their LifePrint printers. Anyone in a user's LifePrint social network can instantly send and receive photos for hard copy printing, a service that should be especially handy for people who have recently popped out a kid or need more pictures of me for their shrine. As the LifePrint network expands, creator Bob Macauley hopes users will even be able to Follow celebrities, professional photographers, and sports teams as they do on Instagram, with the added option of easily printing the shared images that speak to them.

The LifePrint App supports photo editing processes, including color filters, picture stitching, talk bubble and text additions, and borders. The printer itself will measure 6.6" long x 4.5" wide x 1.5" thick, and come in colors black and white.

LifePrint continues its Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign through April 25, 2014. At printing early bird backing at $99 per device was still available. One notable caveat: anticipated delivery date for iPhone-compatible LifePrints isn't until January 2015, and for Android phones April 2015.
