Here's a fun James Bond toy for the everyday man. The DataLocker Enterprise has 1 TB of 256-bit encrypted portable storage, and is the first USB hard drive with FIPS 140-2 validation. It also spotlights one of spy movies' most beloved tropes: the Self Destruct Feature.

The DataLocker Enterprise secures up to 1 TB of data from any platform supporting USB mass storage (e.g., Mac, PC, Linux). Access is protected by a 6- to 18-digit PIN number entered directly on the device's touch screen--another layer of security that protects users from the threat of a compromised host system. The touch screen also restricts DataLocker encryption and management to the device level so it requires no software or drivers, and always remains completely independent of the host computer.

DataLocker hardware encryption chips encrypt and decrypt transferred data using military grade 256 bit AES/CBC mode encryption. Both the Crypto engine and the entire DataLocker device have passed the NIST's FIPS 140-2 validation. Should an attack or attempted password hack ensue, the Enterprise will self-destruct by "zeroizing" all of the drive's encryption keys once a preset number of failed login attempts is reached. When this happens, data is Gone For Ever. The Self Destruct setting carries no data recovery options, and powering off the unit does not reset the counter for unsuccessful password attempts. Therefore, DataLocker warns Enterprise owners to activate this feature with caution.

The DataLocker Enterprise is a top Dude Gift for a Geek pick.
