I like inducing things alright. Normally it's the ire of others and a wicked hangover with fine Hornitos tequila. But now I can also induce the proverbial flames of fire with Duxtop's induction cooktop. And, even better, in doing so I can experience only positive, water-boiling, chicken-frying, bacon-sizzling outcomes!

The portable burner uses 120 volts and 15 amps of electricity--the standard setup in all homes--to summon between 200 and 1,800 watts of energy from the power of a magnetic field. That means it will do its cooking duties efficiently, quickly, and without even feeling hot to the touch. Induction cooking's heat is sparked by an electric current, which fires instantly, but only when in contact with a conductive pot or pan. That means you can mistakenly brush the burner's surface with your hand or purposely place your tongue dead center on a dare, yet avert 2nd degree burns and a rant at your friend Cornelius about how he better give you that $50.

Duxtop's induction cooktop has been designed with self-adjusting burners that both detect and respond to the precise size of the cooking vessel overlying them, plus automatically shut down when a pot or pan is removed and not replaced within 60 seconds. The simple black flattop design and intuitive push-button system keep it classy and handy for public display and use as a warming/self-cooking centerpiece on the dining room table or at outdoor parties. Its smooth, flat profile also makes for easy cleanup.

The Duxtop induction cooktop plugs into any standard household outlet. Its interface includes a built-in countdown digital timer that tracks up to 170 minutes, a digital control panel, 10 power levels ranging from 200 to 1,800 watts, and 10 temperature settings ranging from 140 to 460 degrees F.

Note: All induction cooktops are compatible only with induction-ready cookware, such as cast aluminum enameled iron and steel, stainless steel with a magnetic bottom, or cast iron.
