Wazer, the self-described first ever desktop waterjet cutter, has a few things going for it. First, if your friend Cornelius has ever sprayed you in the face with a pressure washer, you know how strong a jet of water can be. But did you know it is strong enough to cut a Rolex in half? To carve the state of Texas out of a slab of beef jerky? To slice a Batarang out of a sheet of steel? Not only can Wazer's waterjet tech do all of the above, it can do it with precision and detail. Cleanly and in near silence. Right from the table in your workshop. At a fraction of the (sometimes 6 figure) cost of any other waterjet cutter available to consumers.
At least that's the word from the horse's mouth, and what Wazer is raising funds for on Kickstarter.
Wazer says it can cut through any--any--material using its high-pressure water stream. Unlike 3D printers that can handle only soft materials, Wazer can pour through steel, titanium, glass, stone, and carbon fiber. And the soft stuff too. Though a multi-thousand-dollar investment (even with crowdfunding discounts) small businesses, makers, artists, and DIYers who would otherwise sacrifice time and accuracy using hand tools may find Wazer's speed, quality, and consistency pays for itself pretty quick.
Check out some of the stuff, from knives to necklaces to bike parts, you can waterjet for yourself with a Wazer on the project's Kickstarter page. Those who want one have through November 11, 2016 to pledge.
