Root Slayer. For hacking off and digging up those stubborn roots in the backyard. I think my girlfriend has some hair dye called Root Slayer too. It serves a slightly different function than the shovel you see here. Both applications of the term just make me glad I live in an Association-managed condo and have preternaturally gray-free brown locks so I personally will never need a Root Slayer of any kind.

How about you? Doing any digging or planting in the coming months? Radius Garden says the Root Slayer can cut right through gnarly roots without the additional help of hatchets, pry-bars, or saws. The Direct Gardening Association (member organization of gardening and garden magazine companies) must agree, because they gave the heavy-duty shovel a 2017 Green Thumb Award for Most Innovative Garden Tool.

The Root Slayer extends 44-1/2" from the tip of its inverted "V" blade to the top of its ergonomic O-handle grip. The blade is 2.5mm thick and around 13" long, with 3-1/2" steps. Total weight is 5.4 pounds.
